Hi peeps!
First off, I'd like to take a moment to thank those who said some kind words or sent some good karma in the recent past for my dad and my family - it means a lot to me. He has been home from the hospital and is doing well, but he will have some major surgery mid-January. Until then, I'm just trying to keep a positive outlook so I don't have panic attacks every five minutes. Hockey is a great distractor.
Ok, onto the hockey.
Since I last posted, the Hawks have gone 1-2-1. Is this a coincidence? I'd like to think not, but being superstitious, I guess I'll have to attempt to post more than once a week. I won't go into each game into too much detail, since in all honesty my recall's a bit fuzzy on a couple. Or I could be just blocking them from my memory. In any case, since I've been on a kick I introduce the...
TRON RATING SYSTEM!
[humor me ok?]
Game 31: San Jose Sharks 2, Chicago Blackhawks 1 (OT)
This was the game the Hawks should have won - A quick whistle on an apparent Viktor Stalberg goal really screwed the pooch. There were also several non-calls on some pretty obvious Sharks infractions, so I just knew we were going to lose this game. Sucks it had to be in overtime though. At least we got a point right? Such a shame that Corey Crawford couldn't get his eighth victory in a row, and Jordan Hendry scored the only goal for the Hawks (WORLD ENDING).
Rating: Tron/Rinzler. Like Tron, the game started out epic and heroic. But then the BAD happened and my happiness was betrayed like Rinzler did to Kevin Flynn.
Game 32: Colorado Avalanche 7, Chicago Blackhawks 5
This game was undoubtedly the most heartburn inducing of the four. The Hawks' D left both Turco & Crawford out to dry, causing the mouthbreathers to go all Huet-like on Turco after he was pulled after one period. Poor Marty - his first start in forever, and his team stands around like they're waiting for the 22 Clark bus in front of him. Losing when you're up 5-4 with 2:24 is simply inexcusable and wrong. I guess if you can take any positives from this game, Troy Brouwer scored two and Jeremy Morin potted the second goal of his career.
Rating: Sark. Because not only was this game evil, it was FUGLY too.
Game 33: Colorado Avalanche 4, Chicago Blackhawks 3
Rinse, repeat? Well, not quite, but the end result was still the same. I was at this game, and let me tell you, the fans were NOT happy. Many of them booed the Hawks off the ice (which I don't agree with but I understand the anger) and the UC was mostly empty when Brouwer scored a meaningless goal with 1.1 seconds left in the game. It's been quite awhile since I've felt such bad hockey vibes at the UC. Oh and Viktor Stalberg got concussed and there was just a 2 minute boarding penalty called. EEP.
Rating: MCP. Evil, odd and kinda boring to look at.
Game 34: Chicago Blackhawks 4, Detroit Red Wings 1
If a statement win against the Conference leaders, who is also your biggest rival can't turn around your season, will anything? Fitting that on Chris Chelios Heritage Night, the defense would finally decide to show up for the first time in what seems like awhile. My thoughts on honoring Cheli: he was never my favorite player as a Hawk, but I appreciated what he did for the team while he was in Chicago. His "I'll never play for Detroit" comment definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Had I been in attendance, wouldn't have booed, but I don't think I would have clapped much either. As for the game, kudos to Corey Crawford, especially in the first half of the game and Jack Skille was just a BEAST. Soon you will score a bunch of goals Mr. Teletubby, I promise you.
Rating: Quorra. Because this game was awesome and great and HAWT.
I am going to tonight's game vs. the Kings, and additionally I have photos of the Avs game & the Blackhawks open practice on Saturday morning. So I'll try to make a picture dump post in the very near future!

Looks like it's been an uh, interesting last few games for the Hawks. And damn that Mr. Teletubby. I'm supposed to be mad that he's scoring all his goals against my Predators, not laughing because I'm picturing him in that giant yellow costume!
P.S. Merry Christmas to you and your family :)
