The Scoreboard Videos of My Life

Like everything in this day and age, sporting events are becoming an all visceral experience. God forbid if you had ADD at a game 15 years ago - you watched the game and hoped there would be some interesting folks around you to keep your interest. Now you have jumbotrons, instant stats, replays, cheerleaders/ice girls, piped in music and effects. At times it's enough to make you twitchy.

Having been to many Blackhawks games in the last several seasons, I almost don't even pay attention to the scoreboard videos anymore. That's not to say they're not cool - the production value on them is top notch. And I will admit I get excited whenever there's a new one. I do have a couple that I love love LOVE, which got me to thinking about which ones I could find and share on here for your enjoyment. So like sands through the hourglass, here are the scoreboard videos of my life.

The Classics

This video is from the 1994-95 season, which makes sense as it was the first season for the Hawks at the UC, and the Chicago Stadium didn't have video screens. While it's interesting to see how far the production value has come, they still use the same music in one of the montages today. That "Next Ice Age" animation at the end is a little freaky.

The "Hit the Ice" video from 2001-02. That helicopter sequence in the beginning is....weird. Home whites! Tony Amonte! Probie! Jocelyn Thibault?!?

This is the "Hit the Ice" montage from the 2006-07 season. They use the same music and similar shots to this day. If you look closely, you can see baby Seabs & Duncs!

The Funnies

LOLLERCOASTER

I saw this at a Rockford IceHogs game - I can't even...

This seems appropriate right now even if it is two years old.

My Favorites

I got to see this one live on banner raising night with the images projected on the ice. I cried.

I wish I could find the one that was updated through the finals - they would play this before every playoff game last year. Oh, and if anyone knows where the music is from, I love you forever. This one makes me cry too (I'm a sap).

The 300 Violins video is my all time favorite. I love the music and the editing is *tight* (I majored in film/video and was a editing whore). This is the one from last season and they used to show it just prior to the start of the third period. Of course this season it's updated, and now they show it before the second. I liked it better before the last frame - it was a great way to get pumped up for the last twenty minutes!

See what happens when the Hawks have a few days off - I can actually post something almost amusing! :P
